The Infinite hopefully represents an unlimited entirety. But somehow, the idea of giving has lost its luster in the entirety.
Nearly everything we do has you or me, as an individual, as its focus. ‘I want this. I don’t want that. I have a problem. I want a solution. What do I get out of it? I want to win. My feelings are hurt.’ Etcetera, etcetera.
The idea of the Infinite and all its corollaries center around the individual. How can a person be more enlightened, above, perfect? Gone is the idea of ‘giving’.
Years ago when I went through toll booths much more frequently I came across the idea of when you paid your toll – to pay for the guy behind you also. What a cathartic experience. A dollar – for a day full of subtle joy! What a bargain.
What if that was your life goal . . . to honor others? Or even a part of a goal. To just give of what you have for the benefit of another human, and being desirous of nothing in return.
Helping someone else; to help yourself.
