Haunting, isn’t it? The barrier at the end of the line. Where do you go from here?
Even more haunting is the question, ‘Did you put up that barrier?’
Formidable it is. Stops almost everyone.
Out beyond the barrier . . . who knows what is there? Besides, there are no directions on how to get there. Why bother?
99% of the time those comments are all we need. We’ll come back to the barrier later. We’ll postpone any decision. We’ll put off taking the chance of pursuing anything different.
‘Why bother?’ wins out again, just like it has so many times in the past.
But there might be one individual out there who has been standing at that barrier for days because of some unknown pull beckoning him or her. That ‘pull’ is accompanied by a faint whisper saying ‘Now is the time.’
Perhaps the music playing around your barrier is the song, ‘Is That All There Is?’
Maybe you have touched your toe down on the other side to test its soundness. Unfortunately timidity doesn’t work here. It’s make another excuse – or jump off the cliff.
If you have gone back and reread any of this, you may be ready to become serious.
Stare at that daunting barrier until tomorrow morning. The ‘push’ you need may be forthcoming at that time.
