In her poem ‘Wild Geese’ Mary Oliver pens these words . . .
‘The world offers itself to your imagination.’
Imagination. Your imagination.
Worldly happenings can sure take their toll on a person’s imagination. They can fill up and obscure a mind until all it ‘knows’ is grief and anxiety.
Mary really nailed it when she said ‘The world offers itself.’ It does so – continually. No appointment is ever necessary. In like manner the Infinite also avails itself.
The world and the Infinite will be around for quite awhile, and although their offerings will continue, it is up to us to make use of what is offered. It is up to each individual to find the time to activate his or her imagination.
If we don’t – we will never rise above the idea of living out the life, or lives, of someone else’s dreams.
